The Approach
In understanding the client’s brief, expectations and the profile of their guests, we proposed a set design that represented a primary classroom. This created a meaningful relevance to the outreach programmes undertaken by Dubai Cares towards improving children’s access to quality primary education in developing countries. In addition to the classroom set we proposed the use of video mapping animations to make for a dynamic backdrop that would change scenes according to the sequences on stage and support the video messages that would be showcased during the event.
Recognition Monument
The Idea
Among the various scope of works, a recognition monument was an essential element that required extensive thought and creativity due to the significance and timelessness it was meant to reflect.
The Solution
The design concept of the monument involved creating a cylindrical shaped showpiece with interior illumination measuring 3 metres in height and 3metres in diameter. The monument would display over 2,000 donor names that were inscribed on the fascia of the cylinder. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed would unveil this monument at the event by illuminating it with a light switch and handwriting his signature on a metal plaque which was affixed on the monument.
Timeline From the time of approval, there was approximately
2 weeks to produce and deliver the full monument
for the event. This would involve the following:
Production of a miniature prototype that could be tested and presented to the client for approval
Drafting of mechanical and engineering drawings for the construction and assembly of the monument
Artwork creation of over 2,000 donor names and proof-reading
Testing of the light fixtures and electrical connections inside the monument under various environments
Hundreds of man-hours to create the structure and vinyl cut the names of the donors on the object
Test simulations of loading and unloading the various sections of the monument for trucking and transportation purposes
