The Approach

Table Dressing

To reflect the theme, George & Burnell sourced a custom-made blue and sequin fabric with a white underlay for the tablecloths that worked together with a unique lighting solution to create an oceanic aesthetic throughout the tent. Battery-operated underlights were provided for each table to create a sea of green and blue throughout the tables. This was complemented with the reflection of clear Chiavari chairs and blue cushions. Furthermore, a distinct floral centerpiece was curated with the supplier to bring together ambient lighting, a sea-urchin-like feel to the florals with greens to mimic the seaweed and coral of the ocean floor.

Buffet Decoration

George & Burnell provided the design and installation for themed food stations with each station standing at 5m by 3m. Each station was built with shelves and a floor underlay to receive laminated underwater floor graphics. Further decoration and theming were provided through décor in the form of a ceiling lighting feature with fibre-optic jellyfish chandeliers, glass cylinders filled with blue gels, matching centerpieces and LED jellyfish lamps placed on the shelves.

Venue & Hotel Entrance Decoration

Underwater pathway décor was themed to line the walkway from the hotel lobby to the gala tent with jellyfish chandeliers on steel weighted stands along with blue light globes and bubble machines.

George & Burnell further provided an immersive entrance tunnel as an arrival experience complete with full fabric printed ceiling and side walls standing at 6m by 3m that was mounted on trussing. The tunnel was completed with laminated floor graphics and lighting effects to offer an aquatic feel that had guests walking on water through the entrance to the gala dinner.

Ceiling Décor

One of the most unique elements of this project lies in the tent ceiling décor where illuminated PVC jellyfish were installed to line the roof of the gala tent in colours of blue and green. This worked to create a distinctive feel of “Underwater Wonder” that set the design apart from any normal marquee.

Kids Area Decoration

With a client brief that requested for a “Disney-like” feel, an interactive themed children’s area was provided by George & Burnell with perimeter décor, a full-ceiling with balloons and underwater themed sea creatures.

Event Bar

With the scope including two fully functional event bars at a minimum size of 10m, George & Burnell installed two custom-built illuminated bars, designed with an ocean backdrop and shelves fitted with jellyfish lamps in the alcoves. The front of the bar further featured an LED underwater wonder animation.
